Elderly Father’s Cry for Help: “I May Be Killed in My Own Home”

A heartbreaking case has emerged from Kanti Factory Road in Mahatma Gandhi Nagar, Patna, raising serious concerns about the safety and dignity of senior citizens within their own families.

Eighty-three-year-old senior citizen Mr. Rajendra Prasad Singh has accused several members of his own family of harassment, physical assault, and threatening to kill him. Following an alleged incident that took place last night, Mr. Singh was reportedly seen in an injured condition, pleading for help. Blood stains were visible on his clothes, and he appeared deeply frightened and distressed.

Mr. Rajendra Prasad Singh is a retired DSP officer from the police department. According to sources close to the family, his wife passed away nearly a year ago. At a stage in life when emotional support and care from family are most needed, the elderly man now claims he feels unsafe and isolated inside his own home.

Mr. Singh has alleged that his elder son Rajesh Kumar, who is an advocate, along with another son Rakesh Kumar, daughter-in-law Rishu Kumari, and family members Harsh and Ansh, subjected him to mistreatment and issued serious threats.

Local residents and neighbours expressed deep concern after witnessing the condition of the elderly man. Many said that if an 83-year-old retired officer is not safe in his own house, it reflects not just a family dispute but also a larger social and moral crisis.

Social activists and local citizens are now demanding immediate intervention from the administration. They have urged authorities to provide police protection to Mr. Rajendra Prasad Singh, conduct a fair and impartial investigation into the allegations, and ensure legal protection under the Senior Citizens Protection Act.

Citizens are also demanding strict legal action if the allegations are found to be true. Appeals have been made to the district administration, human rights organizations, senior citizen commissions, and media institutions to take immediate cognizance of the matter.

The incident has sparked emotional reactions on social media, with many people saying that every father spends his life securing the future of his children, and if the same father faces fear, humiliation, and violence in old age, society must seriously introspect.

Human rights activists and social organizations are being urged to come forward and support the elderly man in his fight for safety and justice.
