Patna: In a moment of pride for All India Institute of Medical Sciences Patna, Professor Veena Kumari Singh has been conferred with the National Best Medical Teacher Award by the Indian Medical Association (IMA).
Prof. Singh, Head of the Department of Plastic Surgery at AIIMS Patna, received the prestigious honour during the 81st Annual Conference of the Bihar chapter of IMA held in Motihari. The award recognises her outstanding contribution to medical education, academic leadership, and professional excellence.
Further adding to her achievements, Prof. Singh was recently nominated as a Member of the Institute Body and Governing Body of All India Institute of Medical Sciences Gorakhpur by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The Institute Body is the highest policy-making authority of an AIIMS institution and plays a crucial role in overseeing academic, administrative, and financial matters.
A FAIMER Fellow since 2021, Prof. Singh has been actively involved in training MBBS and postgraduate students and has contributed significantly to academic research and medical education reforms. She currently also serves as Treasurer of the National Plastic Surgery Association and Vice President of the Bihar Jharkhand Plastic Surgery Association.
Doctors and faculty members at AIIMS Patna described her dual recognition — both the national award and the governing body nomination — as a proud moment for the institution and the state of Bihar.
