New Delhi: The national capital will host a three-day literary and cultural festival, ‘Delhi Shabdotsav’, from January 2 to 4 at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium. The event aims to bring together literature, Indian knowledge traditions, arts and contemporary discourse on a common platform.
Addressing a press conference at the Delhi Secretariat, Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra said the festival would be the largest literary event organised in the city so far. He informed that the festival will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and several noted writers, intellectuals and cultural figures are expected to participate. Organisers said more than 100 speakers will take part in discussions and sessions during the three-day event.
Providing details of the programme, festival convener and senior journalist Dr Harshvardhan Tripathi said the event will feature literary discussions alongside performances of Indian folk and classical arts. Classical dance forms such as Bharatanatyam and Kathak, devotional music performances and poetry sessions will be among the key attractions. A special gallery showcasing the Somnath Jyotirlinga has also been set up at the venue.
The organisers said that more than 40 new books across various subjects will be released during the festival, offering a platform for emerging authors and new literary works.
According to the organisers, the primary objective of ‘Delhi Shabdotsav’ is to connect the younger generation with India’s cultural and intellectual heritage.
Special sessions such as ‘Youth Voices’ will be organised to encourage participation from students and young thinkers. Registration for the festival has already begun.
The three-day festival is expected to serve as a platform for literary exchange, cultural expression and dialogue, reflecting India’s evolving intellectual journey.
