Patna : A two-day “Ramchandra Khan Smriti Samaroh” commenced on Friday at the auditorium of Patna Museum, bringing together prominent voices from literature, society, and culture. The event, organized by Lok Darshan (Society–Literature–Culture), witnessed the participation of several distinguished personalities from across the country.
During the समारोह, noted author Prem Kumar Mani was conferred the 2026 Ramchandra Khan Social Science Award for his widely discussed book “Bharat: Ek Vichar Parampara.” The ceremony was inaugurated by renowned social activist Medha Patkar, while eminent poet Alok Dhanwa attended as the guest of honour. The session was chaired by former Union Minister of State for Education Sanjay Paswan.
In her address, Medha Patkar paid tribute to late IPS officer Ramchandra Khan and highlighted that his vision extended beyond administrative duties, emphasizing social justice and equality. She also underlined the need to revisit constitutional values in contemporary times.
Alongside intellectual discussions, the cultural segment added vibrancy to the event. A standout moment of the evening was the captivating Kathak performance by acclaimed dancer V. Anuradha Singh. Representing the Raigarh gharana, her graceful expressions, precise footwork, and rhythmic command left the audience spellbound and emerged as one of the highlights of the program.
The event also featured Baul music performances, enriching the cultural atmosphere with folk traditions. Scholars present at the seminar described Prem Kumar Mani’s work as a significant contribution to understanding India’s long-standing intellectual and pluralistic traditions.
The program was anchored by Prof. Veena Amrit, while the vote of thanks was delivered by Tuhin Shankar.
Overall, the opening day of the Smriti Samaroh successfully blended thought-provoking discussions with artistic excellence—where V. Anuradha Singh’s performance subtly stole the spotlight.
